Service Sheets

We do hundreds of these orders every year, and so are very experienced. Although most are black on white A5 when folded 250gsm card, we can of course tailor these to your specifications. With every order for wedding invitations we enclose an order form, guidance sheet, and our standard example with prices. You disregard the advice of this guidance sheet at your peril.

Card. We usually use 250gsm white stock on which our prices are based, but can quote on any other stock of course.

Format. They are usually A5 when folded, forming 4 pages, but can of course have more pages in multiples of 4. The extra sheets are usually double stapled but can be tied with ribbon or stitched for example.

Finishing. We can add a bow or other idea. Just ask.

Pictures. Many have a picture of the church on the front cover, but an emblem or initials are increasingly popular.

Typefaces. Our standard sample has Times on the front cover and Baskerville thereafter, but we can use any face of your choice. Sanserif faces tend to look more contemporary. Text should not be set in capitals as it becomes more difficult to read. (Some faces only come in capitals.)

Wording. Click here for a selection of hymns and readings. It is important you consult your vicar/rabbi before coming to us, as they often insist on things you might not think of. There are different versions of some hymns, so you should use ones taken from the hymn book of the respective church. At your request, we will provide the wording from our collection of books, but you must realize we will charge for alterations to proofs, if the version we have set needs to be altered. It is thus always safer to provide us with the whole service as a Word document, although you need not spend time trying to perfect the layout; this is our job.
